Claap

Category

Meeting recorders are a crowded category, and most differ only at the margins. Claap earns a closer look for two reasons that have nothing to do with features. It was acquired by another company in October 2025, and it pays users for reviews. Both facts shape how you should read everything else about it.

What It Actually Does

The platform records sales calls and meetings, transcribes them, and turns the result into structured notes. Output includes summaries, action items, and follow-up emails. Structured fields are pushed into your customer relationship system.

Recording works with or without a visible bot joining the call. Transcription is claimed across more than ninety-nine languages with speaker identification.

A second capability sits alongside the notetaker. The product began as an asynchronous video workspace. Screen recording, clip sharing, and a searchable video library are all included.

Key Features

  • Bot-free recording — Capture calls without a visible participant joining, with the bot available if you prefer it.
  • Sales-shaped notes — Templates covering discovery questions, objections, qualification fields, and next steps.
  • CRM enrichment — Structured fields synced into major sales platforms after each call.
  • Video workspace — Screen recording, clip editing, and a searchable library, inherited from the original product.
  • Coaching tooling — Talk-time ratios, engagement metrics, and reviewable call libraries for managers.
  • Agent connectivity — Conversation data exposed to external AI agents through an open protocol.

Where It Fits Best

Smaller sales teams without enterprise budgets fit the pricing best.

Business-to-business sales teams that live on calls are the documented core. Named clients include European financial technology and education companies.

Teams wanting both meeting notes and a reusable video library fit better here than at pure notetakers. That combination is genuinely uncommon.

The fit weakens for teams outside revenue roles. The recent product direction points firmly at sales, so general meeting documentation is a secondary use.

Tradeoffs Worth Knowing

The review evidence needs care. The company runs a published voucher programme. Users who post a review on a major software directory and send back a screenshot receive a gift card. That practice is legal and disclosed. It also means the rating and volume reflect solicitation as well as satisfaction. Weight individual review text over the headline score.

The acquisition is the second consideration. A sales engagement company bought Claap in October 2025 in a self-funded deal. Reported valuations ranged between fifteen and thirty million dollars. Original investors exited.

One independent review raises the resulting question directly. Pricing and contracts were unchanged at the time of writing. There is no guarantee that product priorities will not gradually shift toward the acquiring company’s ecosystem. Standalone buyers should ask about roadmap commitments.

Recurring user criticisms are consistent across sources. Editing tools are described as limited for trimming recordings before sharing. Mobile experience and video processing speed draw complaints. Upload and storage caps on lower tiers frustrate teams with high video volume.

Pricing is published, which is a genuine plus. Figures vary slightly by source and currency. A free tier is capped around ten videos and three hundred minutes. The Pro tier is €24 per month on annual billing (€30 monthly), and Business is €48 on annual billing (€60 monthly).

Practical Notes

The acquiring company reports serving over twenty thousand businesses and describes a combined approach it calls signal-triggered outbound.

The company was founded in Paris in 2021 and raised three million dollars in seed funding before the acquisition.

Security credentials include a service organisation certification, European data protection compliance, and data residency options.

One caution on research. At least one major company database confuses this business with an unrelated French media company sharing the name. Verify any profile you consult.

Check which tier includes the CRM integrations you need, since those sit on the higher plan.

Test transcription on your own calls during the free tier rather than trusting language count claims.

How It Compares

Against dedicated conversation intelligence platforms, this costs considerably less and offers less depth in forecasting and revenue analytics.

Against general notetakers, the sales-specific templates and CRM fields are the differentiator. Those tools handle any meeting; this one is shaped for pipeline work.

Much of the comparison material online sits on the company’s own blog. It reviews competitors there and concludes in its own favour. A separate detailed review is published by a direct competitor promoting its alternative. Read both with that in mind.

What to Verify Before Choosing Claap

  • Roadmap commitments for standalone customers after the acquisition
  • Which tier includes your specific CRM integration
  • Upload, storage, and recording caps at your plan level
  • Transcription accuracy on your own calls and accents
  • Editing capability if you share trimmed clips regularly
  • Mobile performance if your team records away from a desk
  • Data residency arrangements for regulated work
  • Consent and recording rules in the jurisdictions you sell into
